Amelia Power (b. 1980) is a painter and educator based in London. She trained at The Ruskin and The Royal Drawing School, where she has gone on to teach drawing since gaining her PGCE for Artist-Teachers from the Institute of Education. Her drawings and paintings often explore the strange, silent forces of plants and nature, especially in areas where they appear in contrast to the strictly human environments of her home city. She is also inspired by everyday stimuli: ‘The subject of my work is often ordinary, but in the act of painting I want to create a theatre of the everyday that makes the familiar strange.’

Amelia’s work has been featured in exhibitions such as The Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize (2007), The Discerning Eye and the RA Summer Exhibition (2007). In 2009, she was one of five artists selected to take part in a residency at Kensington Palace culminating in an exhibition at Thomas Williams Fine Art.
